Perth Scorchers beat Melbourne Stars by 8 runs

Perth Scorchers won the toss and elected to bat first. Gibbs did his job well by scoring 69 of just 48 balls while the other batsmen failed to deliver. Marsh did give him some support by scoring 31 of 28 balls. All other batsmen fell cheaply and the team was all out for 136 in thier allotted 20 overs. Faulkner picked 3 wickets and found good support in Warne who took 2 wickets.

Melbourne Stars started on the wrong foot as they kept losing wickets. While Quiney scored 29 of 35 balls, White scored just 1 run in 9 balls before getting out. Bailey and Hussey also got out with a score of 1 and 4 respectively. Wade saved some grace by scoring 53 of 43 balls, but the team could not achieve their target and the total stood at 128/5 at the end of 20 overs. The pitch was very slow and the batsmen just didn't keep track of the required run rate which wasn't very high and left little time for hard hitting. Only 8 boundaries were hit by the Stars in their allotted overs apart from the 2 sixes.

Perth Scorchers beat Melbourne Stars by 8 runs.
