Melbourne stars beat Brisbaine Heat in a close encounter

The Melbourne Stars did not start right but shouldering on Rob Quiney's 97 and Hussey's 45 got them to a good total of 177 for the loss of 7 wickets. They had lost 2 early wickets but both Quiney and Hussey got their their act together for a 3rd wicket partnership of over 100 runs.  For Brisbaine Heat, Hauritz did the trick by taking 3 wickets and giving just 18 runs in his allotted 4 overs.

For Brisbaine Heat, there were several small partnerships but none of these matured into big ones. McCullum and Hayden did give the Heats a decent start but regular loss of wickets and the buildup of pressure was too much for them to handle. Last minute action from Neser and Harris did get Brisbaine Heat closer to the target but they probably fell short of one over. While McKay did take 3 wickets for the Melbourne Stars, Shane Warne managed to pick his first BBL wicket of the dangerous McCullum.

Melbourne Stars won the match by 8 runs.
